When Ultra—a new booze delivery service—launched in D.C. last week, it drew criticism from the community for offering service to only some parts of the city. But now, the online service says they’ll deliver booze to all areas of D.C.

The Washington City Paper originally reported that Ultra wouldn’t deliver to certain areas, with Ultra founder Aniket Shah telling City Desk that they won’t send drivers to where they “feel that the area is not safe for them.” In an email to DCist last week, Shah said that the delivery area is up to the stores they’re partnering with. “A user has to simply enter their zip to check if the service is available to them currently,” Shah said. “If not, they can simply send us an email and we will aggressively expand in that area. We honestly don’t care where we deliver as long as we have customers there.”

Turns out, the will of the customers is for them to deliver everywhere in D.C. In a statement, Shah says that “some of our users noticed that our service was not available in certain areas and made their displeasure known by contacting various blogs, local community leaders, and representatives of the [D.C. Council].” Shah says that when they launch Ultra in a city, they first “cover areas where our partner stores can deliver within in an hour.” Shah says the plan was to expand based on customer interest in different parts of the city, but “since our decision has been interpreted differently than we expected, we are moving forward with the launch in all areas of D.C.”

Ultra’s expansion to service all of D.C. is effective immediately, Shah says.
