Fuck Buttons‘ Slow Focus was one of the best albums of 2013. The duo’s epic tracks have been evolving since the band’s debut and have only gotten stronger. Slow Focus adds some dance elements and doubles down on drums, but it’s still a far cry from the EDM that crowds the airwaves. “Brainfreeze” is the opening track on Slow Focus. For a special Warp Records compilation, the band has retooled the track to remove the drum intro and add a house backbeat. Though the ear-piercing synths and jungle noises still remain, the new mix feels like a late-night rave instead of a horror movie soundtrack.
