Nick Offerman, better known as The Man You Want To Be Ron Swanson from NBC’s Parks and Recreation, spoke last week at the Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner here in D.C. And while he mostly took shots at Congress, Offerman also used the moment to put the city’s struggle for voting rights on the national stage.
“Something that upsets me, though, about this gorgeous town is that D.C. residents in fact have to pay federal income tax despite not having a vote in Congress,” he said to a smattering of applause. “We literally fought a revolution over that. It’s like Massachusetts not letting straight people get married. That one requires a little math.”
