It’s a rivalry as old as time: D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton and Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert.

Last night, Norton appeared on the The Colbert Report for the fourth time, but while previous visits usually consisted of Colbert antagonizing the shit out of her—mostly about her being a non-voting member of Congress—this one proved more fruitful. Norton was on the show to talk about the 50th anniversary of Freedom Summer, which she was a key organizer of while she was a student at Yale Law School. Despite the Norton and Colbert’s faux-sordid past, Colbert took it easy on her as she discussed the cultural and political impact of Freedom Summer.

Still, there’s some pretty good cheap shots by Colbert. Also, he took the time to make fun of that moment where members of Congress joined arms to sing “We Shall Overcome.” You know what I’m talking about.
