Police are currently investigating the death of man whose body was found in Lower Senate Park this afternoon.

According to a release, Capitol Police received reports of an unconscious man in the Lower Senate Park at D Street and Delaware Avenue NE at approximately 12:15 p.m. this afternoon. Upon arrival, police and first responders concluded that the man, who has yet to be identified, didn’t have any signs consistent with life.

An investigation is currently underway, but WJLA reports that police say the man may have been homeless and may have died as a result of the hot temperatures.
