Just a friendly reminder that, beginning Sunday, WMATA will be increasing the fares for Metrorail, Metrobus, and parking. Here’s everything you need to know:

Metrorail

Fares to ride Metrorail trains will increase an average of 3 percent (or, about 10 cents per trip), with short trips (three miles or less) increasing from $1.70 to $1.75 during off-peak hours and from $2.10 to $2.15 during rush hours. The maximum fares will also increase, from $5.75 to $5.90 during rush hours and from $3.50 to $3.60 during off-peak hours.

Also! The price for passes is increasing: Unlimited one-day will be $14.50; unlimited seven-day will be $59.25; unlimited 28-day will be $237; and seven-day “short trip” passes will be $36.

Metrobus

The fare for regular buses will increase to $1.75—doesn’t matter if you use cash or a SmarTrip card (currently, the fares are $1.60 for SmarTrip and $1.80 for cash). Express bus fares are increasing from $3.65 to $4 and airport bus fare will increase from $6 to $7. Senior and disabled fare will increase from $.80 to $.85 and seven-day regional bus passes will increase from $16 to $17.50.

Parking

Parking rates are increasing by $.10 at every Metro parking lot/garage, except for ones in Prince George’s County (excluding Landover, Addison Road, and Prince George’s Plaza stations), where they’ll increase by $.50.

MetroAccess

MetroAccess fares aren’t changing—they’ll continue to be twice the fastest rail or bus trip. However, the maximum MetroAccess fare will be lowered from $7 to $6.50.
