A word of advice: If you’re thinking of riding the Red Line this weekend, just don’t. Seriously, with bus service replacing trains between the Woodley Park and Gallery Place, you’re better off getting to where you need to go on the Red Line through pretty any other means: cab, bike, hitchhike, whatever. Otherwise, the track work scheduled for every other Metro line this weekend is pretty minimal, with the exception of a few hiccups here and there. Let’s take a look:
Red Line
Red Line trains will operate as follows, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Saturday:
- Between Shady Grove and Woodley Park: every 10 minutes.
- Between Gallery Place and Glenmont: every 15 minutes.
Stations Closed: Dupont Circle, Farragut North, and the Red Line platform at Metro Center
Free shuttle buses will replace Red Line trains between Woodley Park and Gallery Place.
Shuttle buses will operate on two routes:
- Limited stop buses will operate between Woodley Park and Gallery Place making one stop at Metro Center. Add up to 25 minutes of additional travel time.
- Local buses will operate between Woodley Park and Gallery Place, making intermediate stops at Dupont Circle, Farragut North and Metro Center. Please allow 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
Last Train Time Changes:
- The last Red Line train of the night from Shady Grove to Woodley Park will depart 37 minutes earlier than normal to allow for shuttle bus connections. On Friday and Saturday nights, the last train will leave Shady Grove at 1:53 a.m., and on Sunday, the last train will leave Shady Grove at 10:53 p.m.
- The last Red Line train of the night from Glenmont to Gallery Place will depart 18 minutes earlier than normal to allow for shuttle bus connections. On Friday and Saturday nights, the last train will leave Glenmont at 2:19 a.m., and on Sunday, the last train will leave Glenmont at 11:19 p.m.
