I know we’re all still reeling over the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team’s devastating loss against Belgium yesterday, but this deserves your attention: Someone has started a petition to rename Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to the “Tim Howard National Airport,” after USMNT’s stoic goalie, who played a hell of game.
The petition reads “whereas Tim Howard has shown himself to be a national treasure, Minister of Defense, friend of Joe Biden, and the holder for the record of most saves in a World Cup match; therefore, we politely request that we rename the airport to recognize his accomplishments, and meritorious service to the United States of America.”
Per any official White House petition, it needs at least 100,000 signatures before the the administration is forced to look at the petition and address it. So far, it’s up to nearly 2,500 signatures, so it’s got a long way to go before the July 31 deadline.
There’s really no chance that DCA would actually be renamed the “Tim Howard National Airport” but perhaps if you “believe” hard enough…
