Despite the fact that officials in D.C. and Virginia are still trying to figure out how to regulate ride-sharing and app-based car-hailing services like Uber, Lyft, and Sidecar, Uber doesn’t seem too worried about their future in the D.C. area. Today, Uber announced a new option, uberFAMILY, which allows the option to request a car with a carseat “for parents on the go.”

According to a release, uberFAMILY is now live in the D.C. area and Uber users can request an uberFAMILY vehicle by selecting the option in the app. Though requesting a car with a car seat equipped in it will cost you an extra $10, but they’re waving that fee for the first week.

Uber says they can provide forward-facing car seats for children who are at least 12 months old, weighing at least 22 pounds, and are 31 inches tall. Any child weighing more than 48 pounds or 52 inches is too big for one of Uber’s car seats.

Additionally, Uber says they’ve teamed up with The Car Seat Lady’s Dr. Alisa Baer to train drivers on car-seat safety. So yeah, you can “expect not only a car seat, but a driver who has been certified by The Car Seat Lady.”
