After last season’s shocking finale, in which (fine, spoiler, but I really shouldn’t have to say that) Sgt. Nicholas Brody is executed in a public square in Tehran, it left many wondering “where the hell can this show go next?”
With Carrie finding out she’s pregnant and the second lead, Brody, killed off, the show is in a unique position to start over. Will it? Well, in the first look for the fourth season, it doesn’t seem that way. It’s only a minute teaser, but in it we see such familiar tropes as:
- Saul (briefly) lecturing Carrie.
- Someone questioning Carrie’s sanity.
- Explosions.
- Civil unrest in the Middle East.
- Carrie cursing out an authority figure.
- Carrie drinking.
- Carrie losing her shit.
- Quinn brooding.
Yep. This is the same Homeland we hate to love and love to hate. But! All is not the same! The Independent reports that, at this year’s Television Critics Association conference, now that Brody is gone from the show, so is his family, including his dumb daughter:
Brody’s troubled daughter Dana will also not make an appearance in the forthcoming season, with showrunner Alex Gansa confirming she would “probably not” ever appear again.
Ok, Homeland, you’ve got me again.
