Awarded by the President to people and groups who deepen the “nation’s understanding of the humanities,” the winners also include literary critic M. H. Abrams, historian Darlene Clark Hine and the American Antiquarian Society. Also announced today are the winners of the National Medal of Arts, including musician Linda Ronstadt, DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
According to a release, Rehm will be awarded the medal for “illuminating the people and stories behind the headlines. In probing interviews with pundits, poets, and Presidents, Ms. Rehm’s incisive, confident, and curious voice has deepened our understanding of our communities and our culture.” She’s hosted The Diane Rehm Show, originally titled Kaleidoscope, on WAMU since 1979.
The ceremony will take place Monday and will be live-streamed here at 3 p.m.
