The comment period on a plan to guide D.C.’s transportation goals for the next 25 years ends Thursday.
The MoveDC plan, released by the D.C. Department of Transportation in May, puts an emphasis on cycling and transit and encourages a reduction in vehicle traffic through several means including a downtown toll. By 2040, the plan calls for 75 percent of all commutes in D.C. to be non-auto.
During the planning portion of MoveDC, three approaches were presented to the public, with stay the course the most basic. Under the most aggressive approach, 100 percent of District residents would have access to sidewalks by 2040 and nearly 100 percent to a designated bike lane.

That approach was most popular with people who attend DDOT’s public meetings and influenced what made it into the final MoveDC plan. Here, for example, are the modal priorities from MoveDC.
