News of a raze permit for Tenleytown’s Steak n’ Egg caused a collective meltdown for American University students and devotees to the greasy spoon.

While it’s true the building will be torn down, Steak n’ Egg will return to the new mixed-use building from developer Frank Economides. And now, via UrbanTurf, we know what it will look like. Behold: A building that looks like every other new building in D.C.!

Look, we get it. It makes way more sense to fill that space with a four-story building that features, according to UrbanTurf, 16 to 20 rental units and about 4,400 square feet of retail space. Rationally, we’re on board. You’ll have to excuse us as we mourn the loss of yet another small, charming building in D.C.
