Welcome to life post-Silver Line opening. Do you remember what it was like before the Silver Line opened? No? Neither do I. I think it was bad though. I don’t know. I guess it was better if you were a frequent rider of the Blue Line, which has seen significant overcrowding and wait time for trains since the Silver Line opened. Luckily, Blue Line riders, along with just about every other Metro line riders, won’t be experiencing additional delays this weekend, as there’s pretty minimal track work scheduled.

Like last weekend, only the Red Line is experience weekend track work:

  • Between Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet: trains every 10 minutes.
  • Between Glenmont and Fort Totten: trains every 10 minutes.

Free shuttle buses will replace Red Line trains between NoMa-Gallaudet and Fort Totten making intermediate stops at Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland. Please allow an additional 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.

Last Train Time Change: The last Red Line train of the night from Glenmont to Fort Totten will depart 35 minutes earlier than normal to allow for shuttle bus connections. On Friday and Saturday nights, the last train will leave Glenmont at 2:02 a.m., and on Sunday the last train will leave Glenmont at 11:02 p.m.

Stations Closed: Rhode Island Avenue & Brookland

Work Performed: Communication cable and light pole replacement between NoMa-Gallaudet and Fort Totten.

All other Metro lines are operating on a regular weekend schedule, with all trains at the College Park station arriving on the Greenbelt side of the platform. Celebrate by riding the Silver Line all weekend again, just because.
