A few weeks ago, a D.C. man started a Kickstarter fund to raise $30,000 to get noted ’80s pop star Kenny Loggins play in his living room. So, how’s that going?
Would it surprise you to learn that, within just a couple of weeks, he’s raised nearly $20,000? No? Didn’t think so. In an age where someone can raise $55,492 to make fucking potato salad, it should be no surprise that 28-year-old communications specialist Erick Sanchez has raised $18,768 to get “one of the most talented singer/songwriters in Rock ‘n Roll history” to play in his living room in a matter of weeks.
Though he’s about $12,000 short of his goal, he’s still got 12 days left to hit his mark. In an update sent out to all his backers today—more than 100—Sanchez says that anything he raises over the $30,000 mark will go to charity, specifically to Imerman Angels, which is a “non-profit organization that provides one-on-one support among cancer fighters.” Sanchez says that he picked the organization because his mother is a breast cancer survivor and works as a mentor for the group.
There’s still time left to donate if you’d like Sanchez’s wish to get the “Danger Zone” guy to play his living room, or if you think he’ll go over his goal and you want your money to go to a good charity.
