Washington Nationals’ star right-fielder, whose recent immortalization as a garden gnome caused a commuting nightmare for Metro riders, was recently charged with reckless driving.

According to the Post, Werth was pulled over on July 6 in Fairfax County for going 105 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone. He was subsequently charged with a misdemeanor for reckless driving and a hearing, originally scheduled for August 8, was continued until November 12.

In a statement, a Nationals spokesman said that the team “[has] been in communication with right fielder Jayson Werth regarding this situation for multiple weeks. Jayson is cooperating with the authorities. As it is an ongoing legal matter, the team has no further comment.”

Meanwhile, the going price on eBay for those Jayson Werth garden gnomes is still pretty damn high.
