Attention Metrobus riders: Changes to bus routes are coming soon, August 24 to be precise, so you best learn them now, or suffer the consequences (missing your bus).
According to WMATA, the schedules for some routes will be adjusted and new bus service will be added to others to help reduce crowding and late buses. Changes are coming to bus routes in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C.Here are the highlights of the changes, via WMATA:
District of Columbia
- New Route 30N and 30S will replace Route 32 and 36 between Friendship Heights and Naylor Road/Southern Ave. Route 32 and 36 will now run between Foggy Bottom and SouthernAve/Naylor Road.
- New Route 33 replaces Route 32 and 36 service on Wisconsin Avenue between Friendship Heights and Archives.
Virginia
- New Metroway replaces Route 9S and offers extended service between Crystal City and Braddock Road while operating in bus-only lanes, increased frequency and seven day service, including late nights.
- Route 7Y will now service Farragut Square, McPherson Square, and Mt. Vernon Square.
Maryland
- Service improvements will take effect for the Y-Line on Georgia Avenue. Other changes include travel time adjustments and changes to temporary detour routing.

District of Columbia: 5A, 30N, 30S, 31, 32, 34, 36, 70, 96, A4, A7, D31, D32, D34, D51, H9, M31, S2, S4, U2, W1 and W5
Maryland: A11, A12, C2, C8, F1, F2, F6, J4, Y5, Y7, Y8 and Y9
Virginia: 7Y, 9S, 11Y and 29N
