Because Uber thinks you’re too busy to go yourself, or something, they’re now offering a new service—called “Corner Store”—in which you can request an Uber to deliver corner store goods from their inventory.
According to a release, with Uber’s “Corner Store” feature you can “request allergy medicine, diapers, toothpaste, and over 100 other items through the Uber app,” from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and an Uber driver will go out and get it for you. The new service is only available in certain parts of D.C. for now—mostly in Northwest and parts of Northeast and Southeast.
The service is available via the app, by toggling to the “Corner Store” option. The rest is pretty intuitive—choose what you want and a driver will bring it you your house; you’ll be charged to your Uber account. There’s no delivery fee.
Uber says “Corner Store” is just an “experiment” for now and will run for only a few weeks, but might expand if a lot of people decide they don’t like walking down the street to an actual corner store.
