A mural in Shaw featuring one of D.C.’s most beloved sons, Marvin Gaye, will soon disappear as construction next door continues.

The mural was created by well-known local artist Aniekan Udofia last September in collaboration with beer company Heineken. A two-unit condo building is currently being built in the adjacent lot, as PoPville first reported. Reached via email, Udofia said he’s aware that the mural will be covered by construction, but a new one is in the works. More details are forthcoming.

Another mural featuring Gaye will eventually be covered by new construction at 13th and U streets NW.
