If you happened to tune in last night to catch MTV’s Video Music Awards, you may have witnessed the spectacular mishap Trey Songz had when he accidentally referred to The Black Keys—who lost to Lorde in the Best Rock Video category—as the “Black Eyes.” Naturally, this led Twitter to do what Twitter does best:

For those local music nerds who were watching, this was an especially savory moment as Black Eyes were a post-hardcore band from the early aughts who put out two terrific LPs on Dischord Records before disbanding in 2003. The nerds nerded out on Trey Songz’ mix-up:

So now that Black Eyes have a whole new crop of young fans, maybe they’ll reunite, tour, and record a new album? It’s what the fans want:
