Now that the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has given the thumbs up to services and apps that will deliver booze straight to your doorstep, another is launching in parts of D.C. on Thursday.
Drizly, a new smartphone app that claims to deliver booze to your doorstep within 20-40 minutes, will officially launch on Thursday, servicing the following areas: Adams Morgan; Atlas District; Capitol Hill; Cathedral Heights; Chinatown; Cleveland Park; Columbia Heights; Downtown; Dupont Circle; Foggy Bottom; Georgetown; Glover Park; Kalorama; Logan Circle; McLean Gardens; Mt.Vernon Square; Navy Yard; NoMa; Shaw; Southwest; and Woodley Park. A spokesperson for Drizly tells DCist that additional service areas “will be added and announced as they become available.”
Drizly joins similar services like Ultra and Klink, which ABRA issued new guidelines for a few weeks ago after initially ordering a cease-and-desist to Ultra.
Upon issuing the new guidelines, ABRA Director Fred Moosally said that they “encourage businesses that facilitate the sale of alcoholic beverages to contact the agency before starting any new operations in the District…to allow us to ensure operations are compliant with the law before they begin.”
So now that Drizly is launching, you have four options for getting booze in D.C.: Drizly; Klink, Ultra, or walking to the damn liquor store and buying it yourself.
