Nearly 280 local teachers woke up this morning to find that all of their classroom requests on the site Donors Choose had been paid for by Google.
The all-things-Internet company spent $232,009 on things like pedometers for students at DC Prep’s Benning Elementary Campus and 3-D painting supplies for kids at Amidon-Bowen Elementary School in Southwest. According to Donors Choose, the donation will affect 31,362 students in D.C. and nearby areas in Virginia and Maryland.
Google has also given grants and awards to D.C. schools, including a RISE award to CodeNow.
