When Satellite Room introduced their new burger menu that honors some famous Washingtonians, one particular concoction raised some eyebrows: the Ian MacKaye burger.

Though a banh mi-inspired burger with a beef patty, chicken liver mousse, pickled daikon and carrot, and cilantro aioli certainly sounds great, there’s a big problem: MacKaye is a noted vegan and this burger definitely ain’t vegan. Thus, Mathew Ramsey, the culinary mad man behind the popular burger blog Pornburger, took it upon himself to create a vegan burger that would surely be MacKaye-approved.

As the Post first reported, Ramsey’s MacKaye/DC Veg Fest-inspired burger, the The Fugazim, is a direct response to all the collective Internet facepalming when Satellite Room’s new menu was unveiled. The vegan sandwich contains “a grass-fed beet patty (I kid…), crispy brussel sprouts, shallot confit, and black garlic aioli” that is sure to “strike vegan dischord in the hearts of the burger mainstream.

Unfortunately, the burger isn’t available for purchase anywhere (at least for the time being), but if it did, I would hope it costs $5 as opposed to Satellite Room’s $11 MacKaye burger.
