A new campaign highlights the 19 traits protected by the D.C. Human Rights Act.

The “You’re Protected” ads, created by the Office of Human Rights, will appear in 14 Metro stations during October and encourage people to come forward with alleged cases of discrimination. The 19 protected traits include race, color, religion, age and sexual orientation.

“Residents and visitors to the District are extremely fortunate to be protected by one of the most progressive anti-discrimination laws in the nation,” OHR Director Mónica Palacio said in a release. “Our new #DC19 campaign aims to inform and remind people that discrimination based on traits related to physical appearance and other identities is not tolerated in the District, and that individuals can file complaints with the Office of Human Rights when discrimination occurs.”
