Marvin Gaye has returned to Shaw.
In August, the community mourned as local artist Aniekan Udofia‘s Marvin Gaye mural, created in September 2013 with beer company Heineken, was covered by construction. But with hardly a delay, his new mural, next to the Hollywood Barbershop at 710 S Street NW, has been completed.
In an email, Udofia said he hasn’t titled the mural yet: “However, I do like the idea of it being ‘reborn.’ So I would call it ‘The soulful return of Marvin Gaye.'”
“The inspiration and composition are drawn from the previous mural, only this time I added more soul to it,” he said, adding that he “switched the image and made [Gaye] more interactive.”
