Welcome to the weekend. You made it! Congratulations Give yourself a pat on the back, champ. We’re very proud of you for making it through another work week.

But, we have some news to deliver to you, which may or may not affect how you get around this weekend. There’s going to be several street closures around the 11th Street Bridge, as preparations are made for the final surface placement for the 11th Street Bridge Project.

Here’s what will be closed:

• 11th Street, SE between M Street, SE and K Street, SE on Saturday from 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
• The eastbound I-695 (Southeast /Southwest Freeway) exit ramp to 11th Street and the 11th Street on-ramp to westbound I-695.

• Per the District Department of Transportation, here are some suggested detours:

  • Northbound 11th Street, SE traffic will be detoured via westbound M Street, SE to 8th Street, SE, then onto eastbound G Street, SE to access 11th Street.
  • Motorists traveling southbound on 11th Street, SE will be detoured to westbound I Street, SE, then onto 8th Street, SE and eastbound M Street, SE to access 11th Street. Southbound 11th Street, SE access will be maintained to K Street, SE.
  • Motorists traveling on eastbound I-695 (Southeast/Southwest Freeway) will be detoured via the 6th Street exit, to 8th Street, SE, then follow the posted detour routes to access northbound or southbound 11th Street.
  • Motorists seeking access to westbound I-695 (Southeast/Southwest Freeway) from 11th Street, SE will follow the posted detour routes to I Street, SE to access westbound I-695/I-395 via the 3rd Street, SE on-ramp.
  • In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
