A NSFW video filmed by an American University students shows a Ward 8 advisory neighborhood commission member shoving a man and calling him a “little motherfucker.”
Mary Cuthbert, the 68-year-old who chairs ANC 8C03, allegedly accosted the man at a meeting over a proposed development in Southeast. Trey Yingst, who filmed the video, explained what happened to the Post:
Yingst said that Karlene Armstead, an ANC member from 8E, which covers Douglas, parts of Washington Highlands and Congress Heights, walked out in an attempt to disrupt a quorum and prevent a vote from taking place.
Cuthbert objected. The video shows her leaving her seat and briskly walking toward a door. [Joseph] Johnson then intervenes. The police report says Johnson “abruptly stopped in front of [Cuthbert] and put his hands behind his back and then leaned forward.” Cuthbert “then lightly pushed [Johnson,’ the report says. Cuthbert can be heard on the video yelling several profanities at Johnson and Armstead.
Johnson can be heard telling the police officers, “I’m pressing charges against her.”
But, according to the Post, no charges have been filed.
A 2010 Post article says Cuthbert, who has lived in Ward 8 for almost 30 years, describes herself as a “seasoned citizen.” That same year, she was filmed calling her opponent a “dumb [n-word].” Congress Heights on the Rise blogger Nikki Peele says Cuthbert has threatened to “whoop her ass.”
Cuthbert was a passionate supporter of Mayor Vincent Gray, to the point that she was accused of electioneering in 2010.
A Dupont Circle ANC member was accused earlier this year of attacking a homeless man, while a member from ANC 3D admitted to punching an American University official during a meeting.
