This post is brought to you by Whitman-Walker Health.

The past three decades have seen incredible change in the HIV landscape. A diagnosis is no longer a death sentence. We now know how to prevent and diagnose HIV better than ever. And, perhaps most importantly, those living with the virus are no longer viewed as only the virus—HIV care has come to mean treating the whole person, helping them live the kind of healthy and fulfilling life that once wasn’t imaginable.

And though we’ve made great strides, there remains a cloud around the phrase “AIDS.” It’s this stigma that’s brought a change that you may have noticed: the previous years’ AIDS Walk Washington is now the Walk to End HIV. This new name is meant to bring down the barrier to testing, prevention, and keeping people in care—all while conveying a new sense of hope and optimism.

If you’d like to help the Walk reach the ultimate finish line of care for all and new infections for none, please join the fight! You’ll be surrounded by Whitman-Walker Health, over 20 community partners, and thousands of supporters just like you. This year’s Walk will be held on Saturday, October 25th. Walk, run, or simply donate—every little bit helps. Register now and we’ll see you there!
