A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to assault two women in Foggy Bottom on Sunday.

On Sunday around 3:30 a.m., the Metropolitan Police Department says a woman in the area of the 2400 block of I Street NW was approached by a man who “grabbed her and attempted to pull her into nearby bushes while threatening her.” She was able to escape. “A short time later, the suspect attempted to sexually assault a second adult female in the area,” MPD says.

Police arrested 46-year-old Mustapha Kone of no fixed address on the scene. He’s been charged with assault with the intent to commit first degree sexual abuse, felony threats, kidnapping and simple assault.

Two sexual assaults were reported on Sunday, one in Dupont Circle and the other in Georgetown.
