The Islamic State, the terrorist organization responsible for the gruesome, videotaped murders of captured American journalists James Foley, Steven Sotloff, and numerous others, is now reportedly asking sympathizers to target U.S. news media.
The Post reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation released an unclassified Intelligence Bulletin saying that a recent posting in Arabic on an Islamic State forum issued a call to action for sympathizers in the U.S., which includes targeting members of the media—TV anchors, reporters, and radio talk show hosts—have “proved to be biased” and should be targeted especially.
The bulletin warns news agencies to take necessary security precautions as they see fit. The FBI says that the information they uncovered asks groups affiliated with the Islamic State to kidnap journalists in their regions “and [return] them to Syria.”
