Cyclists would be permitted to share the road with streetcars, under a new set of proposed regulations released today.
Regulations released in September proposed limiting cycling on H Street NE and Benning Road to lanes without streetcar tracks. On H Street, that would mean cyclists would have to operate in the inside lanes.
But updated regulations, open to comment for the next 15 days, no longer include that language, a change noted by the District Department of Transportation’s director, Matthew Brown.
@WABADC @DDOTDC @HStGreatSt time to celebrate the new regs: bikes allowed on H street. Be safe and ride on.

It’s still unclear when passenger service will begin on the 2.2-mile streetcar line, the first of what may be a delayed 22-mile system. Whenever that happens, fares will not be collected at first, according to the Post.
