MONDAY
The Flatliners, Single Mothers, Solids. @ Black Cat. 8 p.m. $12.
Punk is dead. Long live punk! For Canada’s The Flatliners, the state of punk is irrelevant: these dudes are just out to have a good time. Which is why they’re brand of anthemic, fist-pumping pop-punk is so endearing, especially when the genre is often the butt of jokes thanks to bands like Fallout Boy. Anyway, The Flatliners play the kind of pop-punk you fell in love with in the ’90s; a natural progression of bands like Lagwagon, Bad Religion, and The Descendents. They hit Black Cat’s backstage tonight with Single Mothers and Solids. — Matt Cohen

WEDNESDAY
Roomrunner, Jail Solidarity, and Maloso at Black Cat. 8 p.m., $10.
Local label Accidental Guest was recently highlighted in our list of the best local record labels, and for good reason: by the end of this fall, the label will have released new music from Jail Solidarity, Roomrunner, Crimson Wave, Screen Vinyl Image, Bloody Knives, and Dark Blue in just a few months time. Not only is that kind of export insane for a label run by a single guy, but label founder/owner Sean Gray has impeccable taste, making all of his releases must-buys. Both Roomrunner and Jail Solidarity—two of his label’s best bands—will play a co-release show at the Black Cat with newly formed crust-punk/hardcore outfit Maloso.— Matt Cohen

Party continues late night with DJs Castro and Congo Sanchez, who just “Shed his Dreads” for Cancer! —Andy Cerutti
>> Verizon Center: Fleetwood Mac. 8pm, sold out—but tickets are still going.
Young Rapids, Native America, Split Red, and Anthony Pirog Trio @ Paperhaus. 8 p.m., Donations accepted.
Paperhaus (the venue) has been killing it this fall, and Friday’s Halloween show is possibly their most stacked (and diverse) lineup yet. It’s not often you go to a house show with something for everyone – but the bands on this bill alternate between experimental, punk and lofi pop. Notable locals Anthony Pirog (brand new album out on Cuneiform!) and Young Rapids bookend what are sure to be explosive sets from two of the hardest working and refreshing touring bands around. Native America from New Orleans (playing third) is prepping to release a new record next month, building on their infectiously catchy garage pop and fuzz. Split/Red (playing second) is yet another excellent punk outfit from Philly, and features Ricardo Lagomasino of Deleted Scenes on drums. The amount of consolidated talent on Friday might make this the best Halloween show in town – and certainly one of the loudest. —Quinn Myers
