As NASA and Orbital Sciences continue to investigate the reason a supply rocket exploded seconds after launching, more video has emerged showing the moment the “mishap” occurred at the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.
The explosion of the Antares rocket and Cygnus cargo spacecraft, carrying supplies for the International Space Station, was captured by Ed Sealing from a Cessna plane.
Matthew Travis of Zero-G News shared the view from the press site.
No injuries were reported after the rocket suffered a “catastrophic anomaly,” with damage seen on the south end of Wallops Island inside the hazard area. The rocket and spacecraft cost an estimated $200 million.
At a press conference, NASA and Orbital Sciences officials said they would review video and telemetry data as part of the investigation. They urged anyone who finds debris to not touch it and call 757-824-1295.
