The Emporiyum festival debuted in Baltimore this spring (Paul Kim).
The Emporiyum food market is coming to Union Market (1309 5th Street NE) November 15-16. Nationally acclaimed staples such as Momofuku Milk Bar will join local favorites to sample and sell their edible and drinkable creations. The market will feature everything from appetizers to desserts, accompanied by liquid refreshment in the form of tea, coffee, beer, and cocktails.
Emporiyum is a “hybrid market and festival for eating, meeting and shopping,” said co-creator Mindy Schapiro. “Half of our participants are local while the other half are traveling from all over the country,” Schapiro told DCist. Most vendors will offer a limited number of free samples, while selling tastes and full-size goods.
Tickets to this first D.C. Emporiyum are $20, $40 for VIP admission and $30 at the door, pending availability. Tickets cover admission only, giving guests access to the thoughtfully curated selection of vendors.
Two workshops are taking place in conjunction with the Emporiyum. Mast Brothers Chocolate is leading a workshop at 11 am on November 15 at Dolcezza (550 Penn Street NE). Tickets are $50 and include chocolate tasting (but not admission to the Emporiyum itself.) Toki Underground chef Erik Bruner-Yang is also leading a sold-out ramen cooking class on November 16.
Emporiyum debuted this spring in Baltimore, drawing more than 2,500 people.
