The D.C. Department of Health will administer 500 free flu shots to adults next week, as peak flu season approaches.
The shots will be available at the city’s EdFEST at the DC Armory from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 22. Immunizations and dental services for children will also be available.
Thus far, flu activity in D.C. is sporadic, according to the Centers for Disease Control, and low, according to Google trends. Since September 28, just 3.6 percent of cases tested and reported to the CDC in Region 3 — which also includes Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia — tested positive for influenza. Flu season usually peaks between December and February.
