Metro’s new fare gates, which will accept payment by smartphone and contactless credit card, were unveiled today at the Gallery Place station.
A pilot program of the new gates at ten stations and on six bus routes will begin in January, with riders able to apply to participate now. If the three-month pilot is successful, Metro will begin replacing fare gates systemwide.
