Any lifelong fan of the Washington football team has probably uttered the words “this team is going to kill me” at least once (who are we kidding, at least once a game since 1991). While the team has not, actually, killed anyone, the disappointment of their performance in recent years does not go away with death. And neither does the chance to make fun of them.

From the Richmond Times-Dispatch comes this pretty funny (but not completely original) obituary from 52-year-old John Ray Bartgis of Mechanicsville, Va., who passed away on Monday. Bartgis, who is described in his obituary as a “diehard” fan of the team, asked, as a final wish, for team players to “be his pallbearers so they can let him down one last time.”

Heh.

Anyway, we reached out to a media spokesperson from the team to find out if they’ll grant him his final wish. We’ll update if we hear back.

Meanwhile, the team is currently sporting a disappointing 3-6 record, so even if they won’t physically let him down one last time, he can rest assured knowing they are in spirit.
