After a pleasant start to fall, cold temperatures have settled in. D.C’s hypothermia season began November 1, with an alert activated when the temperature falls below 32 degrees with wind chill.

When that happens, the city is required to shelter all homeless people. The United Planning Organization is tasked with transporting these men, women and children to shelter. The preferred method of contact is email, at uposh@upo.org. But they can also be reached at 1-800-535-7252 or through 311.
