D.C.’s Polyon is a new band (their first show took place a little over a month ago) but their members have all been kicking around the local music scene for a long while. Adam Lake, Brandon Korch and Ryan McLaughlin combine elements from their many musical projects — including Mass Movement of the Moth, Pash, Monument, Typefighter and Joy Buttons — to create an all-encompassing force of fuzzy pysch rock. Today, we are happy to premiere their first-ever single, “Crest.”

“Crest” is what one would expect an epic post-rock track to sound like if the often tedious build-up/come-down were stripped away and some soaring vocals added on top. The song slowly winds down until you are left with a guitar feedback loop, about to segue into the next song — then it’s abruptly cut off. Polyon has mastered the art of leaving the listener wanting more. Catch them at The Pinch on November 23rd with the Rememberables, Honah Lee and the Plurals. You won’t be disappointed.
