Sure, band reunions are kind of passé these days, but this is one we can get behind: Tuscadero—one of the region’s foremost indie-pop acts from the ’90s—is reuniting for two shows at Arlington, Va.’s Galaxy Hut at the end of December.

The band was on the roster of seminal local indie label Teen-Beat and the show, which also feature label founder Mark Robinson’s (of Unrest, Air Miami) current band Cotton Candy, isn’t just a typical reunion show.

As Robinson writes on the Teen-Beat website, the two bands “are joining forces to raise funds for our dear friend and former Teen-Beat intern Nancy Marion,” who was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia in August:

The costs of treating the disease are enormous and adding up. We don’t want Nancy wasting her time worrying about money, we just want her to get better.

To this end, Tuscadero and Cotton Candy will perform on two nights at the very cozy and wonderful Galaxy Hut in Arlington, Virginia on December 28th and 29th, 2014. Only 60 tickets will be sold for each night. This is a very rare opportunity to see them play their hits in an intimate setting and help Nancy at the same time. It will be rad. [Ages 21+].

But this isn’t the first Tuscadero reunion. Though the band broke up in 1999, they reunited in 2005, for Teen-Beat’s 20th anniversary, and last year, for the Black Cat’s 20th.
