The Walking Sticks host an EP release party on Saturday night at Rock and Roll Hotel
TUESDAY
Hemlines, Joseph & The Beasts, and Near Northeast @ DC9. 8:30 p.m., $8.
Hemlines made their debut only a few weeks ago at the D.C. Public Library’s Punk Archive kickoff show. Since then, the feminist punk band has been steadily booking dates and popping up in conversations across the city. To mention inclusion, gender discrimination, abuse, and sexuality is one thing, but a band furiously spitting rough cuts about all of these topics in your face is another thing. The band may be new, the themes may be familiar, but the passion in Hemlines in undeniable and addictive. —Tori Kerr
>> Sixth & I Synagogue: The Barr Brothers
and Leif Vollebekk. 8 p.m., $13/$15.
WEDNESDAY
Ryan Hemsworth with Tennyson, Ricky Eat Acid @ U Street Music Hall
10 p.m., $18
Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth has garnered national recognition over the years for his high-profile remixes of musicians such as Frank Ocean, Kanye West, and Grimes, but don’t let that mislead you into thinking he’s only doing remixes. Hemsworth incorporates elements of trap, glitch-hop, and 8-bit video game sounds to concoct danceable, nostalgia-heavy tracks. He’s at his best when dealing with the unconventional, transforming R&B into tropical wave, or crooning ballads into glowing Nintendo tributes. It’ll be a late show on Wednesday, but if there was ever a time to break away from your bedtime routine, it’d be for Ryan Hemsworth. —Dalton Vogler
>> Black Cat Backstage: Natural Child and Wanted Man. 8 p.m., $10.
THURSDAY
>> DC9: The Wytches and French Admirals 9 p.m., $10
>> IOTA Club & Cafe: Caroline Rose. 8:30 p.m., $12
FRIDAY
Black Clouds, The Deadmen, Tereu Tereu @ Black Cat Mainstage. 9 p.m., $10/$12
Black Clouds, D.C.’s wild and experimental instrumental trio, just dropped Dreamcation, the highly anticipated follow-up to Everything Is Not Going To Be OK. As the album takes the listener on a bewildering voyage through dark, ethereal soundscapes, their live shows are a cosmic vehicle for that otherworldly trip. Black Clouds have made this a District soiree, as support is handled by from folk-rockers The Deadmen and indie-noise duo Tereu Tereu. —Jon Pacella
SATURDAY
It should be physically impossible for you to walk out the door Saturday night and not end up at one of the following shows. It’s crazy.

>> DC9: Fellow Creatures, Baby Bry Bry and Gully Waters. 9:30 p.m., $8.
>> Rock & Roll Hotel: The Walking Sticks (EP release show) and Ploy with DJ Lean Quatifah and DJ Gianma. 8 p.m., $12.
>> Babe City: Chris Forsyth, Big Hush (EP release show), Anthony Pirog Trio and Golden Triangle. 6 p.m., presented by Frontier Psychiatrist.

>> Howard Theatre: Blonde Redhead and People Get Ready. 7:30 p.m., $20/$25.
SUNDAY
Wyatt Cenac @ Black Cat Mainstage. 7 p.m., $20.
Okay, so this isn’t a musical performance. But Cenac is so damn funny, we couldn’t not include him on this list. An alum of The Daily Show, Cenac stepped away in 2012 to pursue other projects. The risky decision was fruitful: in addition to producing and acting in films, he’s also released two comedy specials, the most recent of which you can now find on Netflix. Live In Brooklyn In [Insert City Name Here] will be the perfect way to gleefully distract yourself for the last few precious hours of weekend and the impending doom of another Monday morning.—Tori Kerr
>> The Howard Theatre: Pepper, the Movement, and New Beat Fund. 8 p.m., $22.50/$25
