If you happen to see a bright orange food truck with popcorn murals painted on the sides, do not try to buy popcorn from it; call the police.
The Popped! Republic food truck—a converted 1997 GMC step van—was stolen sometime over the night from its spot in a lot at 2381 S. Dove Street in Alexandria, Va., Young & Hungry first reported. According to owner Rich Arslan, he first noticed the truck was missing this morning when he pulled into the lot around 7 a.m.
Arslan filed a police report, but tells Y&H “every second counts in the beginning here,” as there’s a good chance the thieves took the truck to a chop shop in a warehouse somewhere. Or they could just be really into popcorn.
DCist reached out to Arslan for more information about the truck. We’ll update when we hear back.
If you have any information of the trucks whereabouts, or have seen it around this morning, contact the police or email Popped! Republic at info@poppedrepublic.com.
