Amid a recent lawsuit filed by Dan Snyder’s legal team against a group of Native Americans who petitioned to get the Washington football team’s trademark cancelled, the Oneida Indian Nation has released a new ad targeting Dan Snyder’s “bullying.”
“Who is he going to bully next? That is the question, as NFL owner Dan Snyder is now suing Native Americans who have spoken out against his team’s name,” the ad says. “Is he going to sue The Washington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, and all the other news organizations that have criticized his use of the name? And what about the 4,000 people who protested the team’s name at a recent game? Is he going to drag all of them into court?”
After the U.S Patent Office canceled the Washington football team’s trademark for their name and logo, Snyder filed a lawsuit against the five Native Americans responsible for the petition that led to the Patent Office’s decision. That group of Native Americans have, in turn, asked the U.S. District Court judge to throw out Snyder’s lawsuit.
Clearly, this isn’t going away anytime soon.
