HOLIDAY: The National Zoo’s ZooLights, the evening celebration of animals through LED displays, is back. Expect 31 displays, live performances and a laser show outside the Elephant house. 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Through January 1, 2015. Free.
SHOP: The Downtown Holiday Market (8th and F streets NW) returns today. Sixty exhibitors will sell art, clothing, jewelry, accessories and more every day through December 23. Vigilante Coffee and Migue’s Magnificent Mini Donuts will also be on the scene. Noon to 8 p.m.

SATURDAY
SHOP: In partnership with Think Local First, DC Brau’s Made in D.C. Marketplace showcases the work of local artisans including Typecase Industries and Jerkface Artisanal Beef Jerky on Small Business Saturday. The Fishermen Band will provide live music, and a big surprise is promised. Noon to 5 p.m. DC Brau Brewing Company (3178-B Bladensburg Road NE).
MORE SHOPPING: Salt & Sundry inside Union Market (1309 5th Street NE) will host an Etsy trunk show with D.C. jewelry designer Mallory Shelter. 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. RSVP here.
HOLIDAY: A 20-foot evergreen tree planted at the Eastern Market Metro plaza will be decorated and lit for the first time this season to honor Capitol Hill Business Improvement District founding President George Didden. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton will speak. 5:50 p.m.
SUNDAY
FESTIVAL: The Comanche Nation from Oklahoma presents Numunu Voices in the Wind, a festival featuring “dance performances, singing, hands-on activities for kids and families, films and food demonstrations.” 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Through Sunday.
MOVIES: Thanksgiving is over, which means it’s officially OK to talk about Christmas. ArcLight Bethesda (7101 Democracy Boulevard) will screen The Polar Express at 2 p.m. and Home Alone at 4 p.m. with more holiday films to follow in December.
TOUR: Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens (4155 Linnean Avenue NW) will host the first of its holiday Serene Sundays. With the theme “A Cartier Christmas,” expect holiday decorations inspired by Marjorie Merriweather Post’s fancy jewels. $15 suggested donation.
MUSIC: A highly respected performer and music educator, Tony Martucci has spent decades as a first call drummer for many of the region’s top jazz bandleaders. He steps out on his own this Sunday to lead a group through 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Twins Jazz. Tickets $10 plus minimum and surcharge. —Sriram Gopal
