A man was arrested last night for allegedly impersonating a police officer. While the man was in an area where demonstrators with the D.C. Ferguson movement were located, an eyewitness says the man was not involved with the protest.
Photojournalist Khalid Naji-Allah provided a first-hand account:
While covering #dcferguson protest on New York Ave. NW last night there was a police imposter and the quick actions of an officer made the news. The “fake” officer had nothing to do with the protesters, he was there to offer a female MPD officer backup and when the real backup arrived he tried to briskly walk away. Unfortunately when you have a body armor, what appears to be a gun, a fake badge, brass knuckles, a stun gun, and other items I can guarantee that your backup is going to lock you up.
The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the arrest, but did not provide additional details.
