A 14-year-old male who was stabbed in Shaw yesterday and took the Metro to Chinatown to evade his attackers was assaulted and robbed for his sneakers and cell phone, police say.

Just after 8 a.m. yesterday, a 14-year-old student on his way to Hospitality High School in Shaw was attacked near the corner of 9th and T Street NW. The teen was stabbed in the lower back before he escaped and boarded a Metro train at the Shaw-Howard University station. On board, passengers noticed his injury and contacted authorities, who met him at Chinatown where he was transported to a nearby hospital. He was soon released and is recovering from non-life threatening injuries.

According to a Metropolitan Police Department public information officer, the student was attacked and robbed of his Air Jordan sneakers and white Samsung cell phone. Police say the student was attacked by two youths who, as the Post reports, “may have taken the Metro’s Green Line south toward Branch Avenue.” No other description is available at this time.
