Good guy Mayor Vincent Gray got out of his SUV today to check on a cyclist who had been hit by a vehicle.
The incident, as a photo from a tipster shows, occurred near the intersections of Vermont Avenue and Florida Avenue NW around 12:30 p.m. Gray witnessed the cyclist get struck by a vehicle, according to his spokesperson, and stopped at the scene to check on the person.
D.C. Fire and EMS responded to a call of a struck cyclist at the 2100 Vermont Avenue NW around that time, spokesperson Tim Wilson said. The cyclist, whose gender was not available, was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. A Metropolitan Police Department public information officer was unable to immediately provide information on the incident.
While Gray was simply a witness to today’s incident, Councilmember Jack Evans was recently behind the wheel of a vehicle when he struck a pedestrian, who was not seriously injured.
