It’s that time again, when Google releases their top trending searches of the year. While the top global and U.S. trending searches were mostly uniform (Robin Williams, World Cup, Ebola, Frozen, ISIS, Malaysia Airlines), the top trending searches were a little different.
Unlike the rest of the nation and the world, Washingtonians searched “iPhone 6, Interstellar, Joan Rivers, Jennifer Lawrence, Ray Rice, Renee Zellweger, and Philip Seymour Hoffman” a lot. In fact, only two of our top searches match the top ten for the nation and the world: “Ebola” and “World Cup.”
In other categories, D.C. residents Googled things like “What is farsighted?,” “What is transportation?,” “Alex from Target,” and “Black Friday 2014” a lot. D.C. residents also googled things like “how to love” and “how to cuddle” a lot, because we are apparently robots who can’t understand basic human emotion. What is love?
Anyway, here are the top trending searches for D.C. in 2014:
