Yesterday, a massive water main break in a 61-year-old pipe snarled the morning commute for those traveling downtown, both on the road and on Metro. This morning, yet another water main break caused problems in D.C. for commuters, albeit not nearly as bad as yesterday, if at all.

DC Water says that crews are currently working to repair a busted eight-inch water main in the 1700 block of 15th Street NW, between R and S Streets. While the broken water main isn’t causing any traffic delays, the 15th Street cycle track at R Street NW is closed, as well as part of the sidewalk, as crews work to repair the water main.

Yesterday’s water main break at 500 block of 12th Street NW caused part of that street to close for repairs until early this morning. The initial break also flooded some Metro stations on the Blue, Orange, and Silver Line. It was basically a commuting nightmare yesterday morning. Sacrifice something to the traffic gods in hopes we don’t have another water main break tomorrow.
