By now, you’ve hopefully caught wind of local label Bad Friend Records’ electrifying new remix compilation, which dropped Tuesday after much anticipation. Officially titled Deleted Scenes vs. The Caribbean vs. Tereu Tereu, the one-of-a-kind record features round robin-style remixes from each of the featured three artists. The result is a pulsing and enthralling cycle that begs for repeat listens.

Bad Friend Records hosted a release show last weekend at Union Arts, a suitable, free-form atmosphere that served the album’s dreamy, organic nature. Most notably, proceeds from the compilation benefit local organization HIPS (Helping Individual Prostitutes Survive); a group that provides an array of support for people and communities impacted by sex work and drug use. From a drop-in center on Rhode Island Avenue NE to hotlines and crisis training, it’s no wonder the folks of HIPS celebrated their 20th anniversary last year.

Continuing the long-standing D.C. tradition of marrying music and activism, the six-track comp is both a shot to the ears and the heart. Waves of sonic cool and warm will wash over you throughout , engaging all of the senses to wake up and reach out. See below the music video for Deleted Scenes’ remix of Tereu Tereu’s expansive track, “Spanish Lynx”. Though the visuals were featured in the original track’s video, the injection of fresh colors highlights a sensory awakening.
